The Bella Twins
In WWE promotional videos and other stories on Total Divas, it looks like Brie and Nikki Bella will be the focus of the upcoming reality show. Total Divas will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the WWE Divas on the road and backstage. Reportedly, the show will also include wrestling matches. Besides being two of the most popular Divas, there is another interesting trivial fact about the Bella Twins. Each is legitimately dating a WWE wrestler in real life.
I wrote about this bizarre WWE love square several months ago when news of their relationships broke. Brie is dating Daniel Bryan and Nikki is dating John Cena. But in light of both the upcoming Total Divas show and the main event of WWE SummerSlam, it's obvious this will be a major storyline in the upcoming weeks. That's why it can't possibly be a coincidence that TMZ obtained a video clip of Nikki asking Cena a very important question.
The short video clip speaks for itself and you can click here to see it. While dining at a posh restaurant, Nikki asks Cena, "If someone wants to be with someone forever, like, why not marry the person?" This isn't exactly a marriage proposal. Mainly, Nikki looks aggravated that Cena hasn't asked her to marry him yet. If you look at Nikki's body language in the video, she clearly isn't happy about it.
In response to that dreaded question, John Cena reminds Nikki Bella that he tried marriage once before and it didn't work out. But Cena ends with a reassurance that Nikki is the only woman in the world for him. Another interesting part of their conversation is when Nikki admits she feels jealous that Brie and Daniel Bryan are shopping for rings. So apparently, Brie and Bryan are engaged.
While the sweet nothings that Nikki Bella and John Cena whisper to each other may not interest all WWE wrestling fans, this dynamic should make the build up to the SummerSlam main event incredible. I've always believed that the best storylines in wrestling are those that have a tiny kernel of truth in them. Between Total Divas, Raw, and possibly Smackdown, the WWE writers will have two or three shows per week to make this love square interesting.
If used correctly, the Divas can add an interesting dynamic to WWE wrestlers' storylines. AJ Lee's crazy flirtations have helped many wrestlers' characters develop and Eve once helped Zack Ryder get over. The insanely popular Daniel Bryan versus the WWE's top draw John Cena is enough to make SummerSlam white-hot. But the addition of their girlfriends the Bella Twins into the mix will make Bryan vs. Cena one of the WWE's biggest matches of the year.
